Great weekend! And MUCH needed! Friday we were going to jazz on main street with the kids but due to rain we settled on ice cream & family movie night afterwards. Not a bad plan B with Anna cooking a great new Lemon Pasta she is experimenting on. Saturday my small Bible study group ventured up to Saluda, NC for a weekend away and to enjoy nature a bit. Tommy & I headed up early Sat morn & hiked around Bradley Falls. The key word is
around Bradley Falls because as a result of lack of
obvious signage we enjoyed several detours first seeing the Falls on the other side of the mountain that you are supposed to see it. But it was great 5-6 miles to warm up for the rest of the weekend. Bradley Falls is about a 100ft water fall that you can repell & climb around...very nice scenery & the trail head is only 5 minutes from downtown Saluda.

The Mountain View through the windshield at 65 mph. |

View from the "wrong" side of the mountain. |

View from the "rigt" side... |

First we went right, came out left & still hadn't found the Falls, so we went back in... |
After Bradley Falls we met up with Chris for a nice lunch at Purple Onion & walked around Saluda before beginning our next hike. That afternoon we hiked to the "Narrows" to see some kayakers attach some great rapids...very impressive. It was a beautiful day with some good exercise with another 5-6 mile trek that afternoon.

Had to pass this little guy twice to get to good views of the paddlers... |
We enjoyed watching the kayaks & learned a good bit about the Green, including "Sunshine" & "Gorilla."

By the way, just kidding on the above captions. Ha. After watching a nice exhibition, we hiked out, enjoyed some nice rain on the way. For dinner we took down a great pie at Side Street Pizza in Tryon & relaxed in our cabin. After solving many of the world's problems the night before in discussion we woke up to do our own kayaking. The Upper Green on individual inflatables was a good time & finished off the weekend with a sizable tasty lunch at Greenville River BBQ. I'll be back soon....
